Creative Arts Therapy

Some young people struggle to verbalise their emotional difficulties. They may feel that talking to someone would help but they cannot find the words. Creative Arts Therapy is a way of helping a young person, without the need for talking. The young person can choose from a range of creative media: art, drama, crafts, music, dance, clay modelling, story telling etc.

In Creative Arts Therapy, the creativity does the talking. Since using creativity explores feelings on an unconscious level, the young person might find they start to feel better without even realising how. Although Creative Arts Therapy is considered a non-talking therapy, that doesn't mean talking is not allowed! The young person can talk as little or as much as they like. This form of therapy can be a powerful intervention for the early signs of mental health difficulties.
